Improving sorting
Eco-consumptionEco-consumption thinks of itself as consumption, which takes account of ecological aspects (rational management of natural resources) and social aspects (compliance with consumer legislation, i.e. the quality and safety of products as well as their market availability). It is also known as sustainable purchasing. and eco-designA preventive approach, which is characterised by the account it takes of the environment during the design or improvement phase for a product. The aim of this approach is to improve the ecological quality of the product, i.e. reduce its negative impact on the environment throughout its lifecycle, whilst preserving its usability. allow to reduce quantities of waste generated by the companies.
To develop a policy of sorting in the company constitutes another alternative to reduce the quantity of cremated or eliminated waste in CET (Engineered landfill)The purpose of a Centre d'Enfouissement Technique (Engineered Landfill Site), also known as a "waste tip" is to dispose of waste by dumping above ground or underground. For more details, see the Decree of 27th June 1996 governing waste (M.B. 02.08.1996), art. 2§ 18°.. The sorted out waste will be reused, recycled or valued.
To sort out represents a financial interest (landfill cost and tax on waste going to landfills), environmental interest and improve the brand image of the company.
How to help the companies of a park of activity
to improve the sorting of their waste?
Various possible actions:
- Set up a combined waste collection on the park of economic activity (PAE)
(organizing a joint waste collection by a single service provider and take advantage of this action to improve the sorting in the concerned companies). - Create new networks of sorting
(Identify the types of waste which can be sorted out and create new more interesting networks of removal). - Set up procedures of sorting in company
(Develop a procedure of sorting in companies). - Raising the awareness of personnel
(via posters, newsletters, graphs,…).
