Launch of the project
The club of company IDEALYS, the city of Gembloux and the BEP seized the opportunity to participate in the Life-SMIGIN project to improve the environmental management of the park of activity of Créalys. This project was presented to all the companies of the park and 18 of them decided to subscribe to it.
The visits of these companies began during the second half-year 2007 and allowed the writing of a global report. This one resumes reports raised on the park in waste, in energy, in mobility and in landscaping as well as a list of collective actions intended to improve the management. Companies were then met againindividually by an adviser of the Life-SMIGIN project; the objective being to present them the " environmental pre-diagnosis " of their company on one hand, as well as the collective actions in which they were invited to participate on the other hand.
We then entered the phase of implementation of the actions.
Certification
Concerned with improving the environmental management of Créalys, the BEP dashed into the approach of ISO 14001 certification of this park of economic activity. The global report realized within the framework of the project Life-SMIGIN contributed to the initial environmental study of the park and to the licence a series of tracks of improvement. The park of activity is ISO-certified 14001 since May, 2009 and various actions were already launched.
Implemented actions on the park
Actions "Waste"
- Raising awareness to the sorting of waste
An awareness campaign in the sorting of waste began, in November, 2008, on the park of Créalys, with the distribution of sensitization posters to the sorting of the paper / cardboard, PMC and the glass. The development of raising awareness tools is at present underway. These will soon be given to companies.
Actions "Energy"
- Information sessions
In November, 2008, about ten companies of Créalys met at a meeting of Idéalys to attend a first information session on "the tracks of improvement in energy management in company". A second session was then organized, in February, 2009, on "the photovoltaic solar panels". Finally, during May 2009, the companies of the park were invited to participate in a workshop energy on the subject of "the raising awareness of the staff to the rational use of the energy". The objective of these sessions is to bring a concrete and targeted information to companies avid to improve. - Follow-up of invoices and energy consumptions
To know its energy consumptions and their evolution constitutes the first stage of a good management of the post "energy" in a company. That is why, the advisers of the Walloon Union of Companies realized spreadsheets of monitoring of the consumptions of gas, fuel oil and electricity and gave them to companies. Today, several companies of Créalys realize the precise statement of their consumptions to identify possible tracks of improvement.
Actions "Mobility"
- Promotion of the Namur-Créalys shuttle
To increase the attendance rate of the shuttle of bus between the station of Namur and Créalys, an opinion survey relative to this service was realized in the companies of the park and a sensitization of the workers was made. These actions allowed to reach and even to exceed the breakeven point of the shuttle. A halving of the service and a change of schedule of the shuttle are planned for September, 2009. - Promotion of the alternative ways of transportation to the individual car use (shuttle, car sharing, public transportation)
To promote car sharing within the park, the BEP and the club of companies Idéalys registered, in 2008, the science park on the data base of car sharing, Carpoolplaza. Via this web site, the workers can find, on the park, persons with whom to share the same means of locomotion. This site also gathers the whole offer of transport proposed to the workers and the visitors of the park of activity.
During the week of mobility, one day of raising awareness of the workers of Créalys to the alternative ways of locomotion (shuttle, car sharing and public transportation) will be organized. During this week, brochures will be distributed to the workers of the park of activity.

Joint effort Idéalys-BEP-Life-SMIGIN Project
What characterizes the park of Créalys is the presence of an administrator of the park (intermunicipalitiy BEP) as well as a club of particularly dynamic companies ( Idéalys). Before the beginning of the project, the effective collaboration between Idéalys and the BEP allowed in particular to set up a shuttle of bus dedicated to the park, to improve the aspect safety (thefts) and to federate companies by the organization of diverse and varied activities.
The project of collective management of the environment began on Créalys during the second half-year 2007. While the actions of the LIFE-SMIGIN project aim more at improving the way companies manage environmental issues (organization with Idéalys of raising awareness sessions, implementation of a policy of monitoring of the energy consumptions, etc.), the BEP, as for him, develops numerous projects intended to improve the environmental quality of the park: landscaping of the green spaces, the improvement of the maintenance of the park of activity, works on the energy performance of buildings (realization of energy audits, etc.), …
So, the strong partnership between the BEP and Idéalys and the important implication of these two structures to whom was added the Life-SMIGIN project allows to lead numerous projects by taking advantage of skills and of complementarities of each.
