Join forces for improved management

Energy consumption, waste and wastewater/sewage management, movement of personnel, developing surroundings/accesses … companies have an impact on their environment. In order to reduce these effects, companies can implement combined solutions to these individual problems by joining forces. On the same Parc d'Activité Economique A Parc d'Activité Economique (PAE) or Business Park, sometimes known as a Zone d'Activité Economique (ZAE) Industrial Park, is defined here as being a geographic area dedicated to economic activity/business. It may comprise both industries and companies from the tertiary sector, this scheme appears even more relevant. The heads of companies involved in projects share their experiences, express their needs and pool their resources.

LAny improvements made should be greater than the improvements that each company could make individually. Savings should therefore be made.

For example :
  • Reduction in the cost of waste collection.
  • Development of new recycling channels by combining waste outputs.
  • Management and promotion of car sharing.
The scheme proposed on this web site is largely based on the experiment conducted on 7 business parks (5 in Belgium and 2 in France): here are a few examples of the actions taken on these business parks...
"Energy" actions
  • Information meetings (on the rational use of energy, heating, monitoring consumption, optimising lighting, etc.).
  • Setting up monitoring of consumption.
  • Raising the awareness of personnel.
  • Improving lighting (relighting).
  • Joint purchasing of photovoltaic solar panels.
  • Joint purchasing of gas and electricity.
"Mobility" actions
"Waste" actions
  • Setting up combined waste collection by a single service provider.
  • Training on waste management as well as current and future legislation in this area.
  • Organising visits to waste sorting centres.
  • Setting up clean-up actions on parks.
"Land development/Landscaping" actions
  • Training workers in differentiated maintenance (more economical and without pesticides).
  • Examining improvements in the landscape and biodiversity in public spaces.
  • Planting indigenous species on business parks.
