TOP STORY

Supported by the UWE’s advisors, business parks involved in the LIFE-SMIGIN project are witnessing the implementation of numerous collective actions. Arrangements to make the business park safe, waste collection combining several companies, establishment of a business association, monitoring energy consumption, etc. Here is the latest news from these business parks, which are all improving their environmental management!

 News from our business parks:

SAINTES

Success for the shuttle !

The shuttle linking the business park with the station at Tubize is a great success: more than 85 tickets were sold during the second week of the shuttle’s operations.

An active communication campaign within companies enabled all potential shuttle users’ questions to be answered.

NIVELLES

The focus is on car sharing

2 companies, Westing House and L’Oréal, on the Nivelles business park will be reserving spaces in their car park for car sharers.

This rewards current car sharers and raises the awareness of other members of staff, encouraging them to use this more economical mode of transport.

CREALYS

Hunting out energy losses

The BEP, the district authority which manages the business park, is currently conducting an energy audit for the buildings it owns.

The aim? On the one hand, to identify sources of needless over-consumption. On the other hand, to define ways of improving the energy efficiency of buildings.

Ultimately, wallets and the environment will be the winners.

WAREMME

Four partners for a more viable and pleasant business park

Reducing the speed limit to 50 km/h, organising regular street cleaning, marking out thoroughfares for pedestrians and developing public green spaces, etc, there is no lack of projects on the Waremme business park.

Four partners have joined forces: the city of Waremme, the business club, the Local Development Agency and the UWE.

These projects will improve the image of the city, the business park and its companies.

COURCELLES

Recycling for the benefit of poorly children

In Courcelles, several companies are giving a helping hand to poorly children.

They are recycling their used printer and toner cartridges for the benefit of the Cliniclown association. The cartridges are sent to a recycling centre, which donates the money to the association.

SARS-ET-ROSIERES

Companies, join us!

Companies from the business park met over breakfast. On the menu: croissants, coffee…and, above all, the creation of the business association. This is how the heads of companies demonstrated their desire to act as representative contacts within the business park, to share costs and resources, and to communicate in a coherent manner. A web site for the association will follow soon.

The association has become a special partner for the Life project.

PARC DE L’AERODROME

Towards better transport management

A mobility survey involving companies and their employees has been running since March. This preliminary assessment will enable a long term Company Transport Plan to be drawn up, in order to promote alternatives to the car for travelling from home to work and back.

This scheme forms part of a partnership between the local urban transport association (SITURV), the business association for the Aéropark, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Valenciennois via the Life project.
